Idea Gallery / Renaissance Photo Exhibit

Recently The Renaissance Photography Prize competition was held in London to benefit The Lavendar Trust which benefits breast cancer care in the UK. 60 images were selected out more than 2,500 entries from all over the world by judges Martin Parr, Eamonn McCabe, Charlie Waite and Magnum Photos editor Brigitte Lardinois. The image of "Nai" the young Kenyan girl (whose picture is featured above) will be part of the exhibit. The image was shot while on assignment with Scott Harrison from Charity:Water looking at the conditions of the Samburu people. Scott Harrison and Vance Thompson were crucial in helping raise funds to send Nai to the CURE clinic in Kijabe Kenya to rehabilitate her hands. Through this image and the attention of a lot of helping hearts Nai stands a chance to lead a normal life. Now her picture can help others through this exhibit.  The winning entries will be displayed and available for sale at the exhibition, with all proceeds going to the Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care.

Gallery Opening times are: Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm, Saturday & Sunday 12 - 5pm.

Idea Generation Gallery, is located at: 11 Chance St, London. E2 7JB.

It is such a pleasure, honor, inspiration to meet and read about compassionate photographers who parlay their skills into improving the lot of people who are less fortunate. We should all support these efforts however we can, even if just by attending shows like this.

Spent some time on your blog last night and thoroughly enjoyed it and completely connected. (Netdiver chose well!) My partner and I are also big fans of Neil Young — here’s my proof!, I posted this on the Koloist blog on Neil’s birthday:

I’ve stumbled upon that site interpreting Neil’s lyrics before, too... Cool to meet folks whose web browsing so often parallels your own. Also LOVE Eddie Vedder’s Into The Wild album, especially the tune Hard Sun, as well as Guaranteed — have Googled the lyrics and emailed them to friends.

The videos you’ve been posting are great for a laugh — having done some time in advertising myself, Hipsters in Space hit home!

Most of all, I want to congratulate you on your Samburu show at The Hague. It is STUNNING. Kudos and all the best of luck, Lyle Owerko! I will definitely be spending some cup o’ joe breaks reading your older blog posts. Keep em coming. :)
